Description:L-3 Communications, Applied Signal & Image Technology (L-3 ASIT) is seeking a Technical Writer for our Linthicum Heights, MD location. The Technical Writer is responsible for writing and editing L-3 ASIT business, product and system documentation and publications. They must be able to research technical topics, organize the topics in a logical fashion and translate the technical contents into text that an uneducated reader could understand. They will be responsible for generating product and system operations and maintenance manuals for complex electronic equipment, product data sheets, training manuals and course descriptions, business development proposals, business processes and procedures, and marketing presentations. The Technical Writer is responsible for photographing products and systems, maintaining and managing a product picture library for document insertion usage. They are responsible for creating; managing and following document standards and templates for clear and consistent presentations.
Duties:•Responsible for creating, editing and maintaining product and system operations and maintenance manuals for complex electronic equipment, product data sheets, training manuals and course descriptions, business development proposals, business processes and procedures, and marketing presentations.
•Must be able to study technical documentation, drawings and specifications to be able to create documentation with minimal guidance.
•Must be able to learn the operation of products and how they are used by hands-on experience, research and talking with engineers.
•Responsible for reviewing and editing documents created by others for format and content.
•Responsible for photographing and editing product pictures for presentations and publications.
•Assist in writing procedures and plans to support business objectives.
•Responsible for following all L-3 ASIT document configuration and control processes and procedures on applicable documents.
•Responsible for managing the duplication, publication and distribution of documents.
Qualifications:• Associate’s Degree plus a minimum of 4 years or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Must have strong experience with using Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Power Point, etc…) Photoshop or equivalent.
• TS Clearance is preferred. Eligibility to obtain TS/SCI required.
