Description:L-3 Communications, Applied Signal & Image Technology (L-3 ASIT) is seeking a Principle Scientist for our Linthicum Heights, MD location. The Principle Scientist supports and advises the strategic technical direction of L-3 ASIT. The Scientist will establish research for the design, development and/or integration of passive and/or active airborne, mobile, shipboard and ground-based signal intelligence (SIGINT) Products and Systems. The Scientist will primarily be responsible for establishing research requirements; designing large experiments; compiling data and results for large studies and reports. Also responsible for designing, coding, testing and executing complex algorithms in MATLAB and managing field work. Responsibilities include researching, investigating and evaluating new technologies for advancing L-3 ASIT products and systems business. The Principle Scientist maintains expertise in the analysis and simulation of SIGINT systems utilizing state of the art tools and techniques.
Duties:• Recommends and supports L-3 ASIT strategic business technology advancements.
• Researches, analyzes, evaluates and documents test results and technology studies.
• Participates in high-level architecture designs as a part of the design review team.
• Responsible for designing, coding, testing and executing complex algorithms in MATLAB and managing field work.
• Has proven ability to advance the state-of-the-art in product or system designs with positive business results.
• Generates and presents technical White Papers, presentations and publications to staff and/or customers.
• Supports operational analysis and development plans.
• Provides technical expertise to peers or subordinates through mentoring or supervising other engineering staff.
• Supports proposal development and IRAD, generating high level trade-offs, technology selection, design approaches, technical write-ups and engineering estimates.

Qualifications:• BS in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or Physics (or related field) required plus a minimum of 18 years of directly related experience and/or training.
• Experience (10 years) developing algorithms and technology related to SIGINT HF/VHF/UHF products or systems.
• Experience (10 years) developing technology for the detection, collection, and analysis of advanced communication signal types.
• Experience (5 years) developing DF or Geo-location technology related to HF/VHF/UHF products or systems.
• Must have experience with using MATLAB, Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Power Point)
• TS clearance is preferred. Must be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
